I met Natalie roughly 5 years ago, she had commissioned me to shoot her nephew Matthew as a gift to her sister. Matthew was about to become a big brother and I had the challenge of making this young boy smile which I was told was an impossible task for some. I was up for the challenge as I just adore children. So with God’s favour I was able to snap numerous knock out smiles from this gorgeous little boy. And so my journey with Natalie started.
Fast forward a few years and my next shoot was on the beach where I finally got to meet Natalie’s entire family. The Moores were full of life, bubbling with laughter and cracking jokes with a passion for living life to the fullest. It was with great sadness that I heard the news of Natalie’s father’s passing not so long after the shoot. Understandingly this was an incredibly tough time for them all, having met Vince I understood the great void left behind.
Four years ago Natalie & Richard met at Bootleggers, Cape Quarter. They were dumbstruck when they discovered that they both shared the same surname but what was the most remarkable was that they both had lost their fathers too. So when I met up for a crisp glass of beer at Lizette’s Kitchen one afternoon I finally got to meet Richard and their adorable Golden Retriever called Summer. As Summer was excitedly sniffing for some treats around the table Id I could see it then, the joy in Natalie’s eyes. They were each other’s rocks, that special someone whom you can lean on and who understood. Now they can start their new lives together, with hope, joy, excitement and wonder.
Here is to an incredible journey for you both, may you be blessed and know only joy!
